Suwon Fortress and Palace

On the weekend of April 14-15 Steve and I headed up to Seoul and then on to Suwon to take in the fortress and the palace contained within.

The day was nice to go trooping around the fortress. We went to the palace first and took in a demonstration. I think it was suppose to be the king observing his soldiers in talent trials of their marksmanship skills.

The guards above the marksmanship challenge.

The troops coming in to participate in the challenge.

Some guy announcing the challenge.

The King starting the games.

Alright, guns!!!!

Archery now. These guys were actually pretty good.

Our picture with the king. Steve, that weasel, tried to get out of it. The people saw us watching and they were rather insistent that we get a picture taken. Ste tried to hang back and take a picture on his camera. Luckily they took his camera and made him get into the shot as well. He's a sneaky one he is!!!!

Cooking area in the palace.

Steve wanted to be surrounded by woman................. Oh and while we are on this shot, notice the beautiful T-shirt that Steve is sporting. Waygook =foreigner in Korean. Yes, he has literally labeled himself.

Bells, but no whistles. They drew the line at the whistles.

Giant Buddha statue. If it was really gold I don't think it'd still be standing there.

The art work on any of these statues are amazing though.

I was at this fortress in October. There are some other shots of it in one of my earlier entries.
