Graduation Feb 15th

Unlike our over the top type of graduation ceremony that we are subjected to in Canada (probably North America but I don't want to be to general lol), the grad ceremony here last a grand total of 48 minutes. They didn't get dressed up at all, in fact they were in ragged street clothes..........granted later that day I found out why they didn't wear nice clothes. The rest of the school was still in their uniforms though.

These are all my students. The one group in front are the grade three's. The grade 2's and grade 1's are toward the back. I have about 400 students that I see at least once a week.

Some of my grade three's..........they love to pose.

My vice principal, and in the background there are the administers for the city education system. What I want to point out though is the flower stands in the background. They have these whenever there is a special occasion. When you walk down the street in Geochang there is almost always a new store that opened up and they will have the flower stands flanking the door.........and then about half a dozen smaller plants, and balloons, we can;t forget about the balloon rainbow thing.

One of students getting a award.

This is why they were wearing the street clothes. Apparently it is good luck to be "floured and egged". The students were running around with various people in plastic..........but mostly they were just covered in egg and flour.....they wanted a picture with me, but they weren't going to be touching me!!!

Pose one..........

and pose two............. aka the love pose.

The wee people

I was invited to Steve's school Musical on the 8th of February. These are some pictures from this day that marked the start of the decline of Steve's stress. Here is Steve and Helen teacher above being the MC for the evening.

This is the staff that made the performance possible. I was very entertained for the 2 odd hours that I was there for!!

These are some of the kids in the Snow White portion of the performance.

I have to comment on Snow White. She was so into the musical she didn't even realize she was singing a song that was announcing her death.........she was stage laying down for maybe a minute and then she decided to sing this song.

This is some of the other portions of the performance. This one I believe was in Chinese.

Speeches about what they want to do when they get older. These are some of Steve's oldest kids.

I guess as a school they really liked sister act, so they did a few of the songs from it.
Talking about musical instruments.

This is the musical Peter Pan that was done by the older portion of the school.

"Put your hands on your hips..........." Congo line!!!

Everyone on stage for the farewell.

Steve's Bday

Steve regaining his accent before we head out. (talking to the folks)

Steve gets TWO cakes. In Korea if you have cake and are celebrating in a public place it is considered polite to serve a piece of cake to each table in the bar.........so it's a good thing we had two cakes.

Oh try eating cake with chopsticks.....because that's what we do here.

Steve was celebrating everyone in the bar singing happy birthday to him. We now know how to embarrass him.

Adrian and Jack........was it the drink?

They take better pictures than Steve and I........or at least this day they did.

23rd birthday!!!

On Friday night a bunch of us went out and played cards in one of the bars we frequent. Most of the people who came out for this didn't come to Daegu to club it up. It was fine we had fun.

My girls here in South Korea. Ellen is in red and Megan's in Black.

Birthday girl pic!! Ellen's 23rd is on the forth of Feb.

At our yummy supper.

All of us that made the journey.

Birthday people. 3rd, 4th and 6th. We rock for the simple reason that I said so. I WIN!!

Before we were horribly drunk.

First club. Later we move to a different club and have an awesome time!!

This picture is mostly for Meg's sake. Yep the pole. We'll just leave it like that.

What's with the bottle?

I think everything was funny at this point.......but I have to say I wasn't the one carried back to the hotel. And I also remember the night......and who was there. lol
