Buddha's Birthday!!

Buddha's birthday is in April and it is a huge celebration across Korea, and I assume, Asia. Buddha is the main guy over here so it makes sense. It's like celebrating December 25th for Christ's birthday.

All Buddhist's temples are decorated with colourful lanterns. It's quite a sight!




Martyn, Steve, and I went to a temple just outside Geochang. The temple was originally built on a Buddhist meeting ground. The picture didn't turn out but their is a fairly distinct looking sculpture here.

The Buddhist monks allowed the three of us to hang a lantern each. Each lantern has a page attached to it. These are prayers for the forth coming year. The entire place is lit up with these beautiful lanterns. They are suppose to look like a lotus flower.
